Favicon Generator

Every professional website needs a favicon — the tiny icon that appears in browser tabs, bookmarks and search results next to your site name. Our free Favicon Generator turns any image or logo into a ready-to-use favicon.ico file in seconds, with no design software and no sign-up required.

The tool resizes your image to the three standard favicon sizes (16×16, 32×32 and 48×48 pixels) and packs them into a single genuine ICO file, exactly the format browsers expect. Everything runs in your browser, so your logo never gets uploaded anywhere — a small but meaningful privacy win when the image is an unreleased brand asset.

For the best result, start with a square image (at least 64×64 pixels) with a simple, high-contrast design — tiny icons lose fine detail, so bold shapes and one or two colors work best. Once downloaded, upload favicon.ico to your website’s root folder and add the standard link tag to your pages.

You will see your new favicon in browser tabs, the bookmarks bar and mobile search results, where a crisp icon quietly boosts recognition. Most WordPress themes also accept the ICO file as a site icon via the Customizer.

FAQs

What sizes are included in the ICO file?

The generated file contains 16×16, 32×32 and 48×48 pixel versions, so browsers can pick the right one for tabs, bookmarks and shortcuts.

My favicon does not show up after uploading. Why?

Browsers cache favicons aggressively. Hard-refresh (Ctrl+F5) or open the site in a private window, and make sure the file is at your site root or linked with the correct path.

Should my source image be square?

Yes — square images convert cleanly. Rectangular images are stretched to a square, which can look distorted, so crop your logo to a square first.
