Binary to Text

Binary looks like noise — endless 0s and 1s — until you decode it. Our free Binary to Text tool turns those bits back into readable words. Paste binary code in 8-bit groups (spaces and line breaks are fine), click Decode, and get the original text instantly. The decoder is UTF-8 aware, so multi-byte characters like emojis and non-Latin scripts come back correctly instead of turning into gibberish.

Before decoding, the tool validates your input and tells you exactly what is wrong: characters other than 0 and 1, or a total length that is not a multiple of 8. Students learning how computers store text, developers debugging byte-level data, and puzzle solvers all get a reliable decoder that runs in the browser — free, no signup, nothing uploaded.

Keep both binary tools bookmarked together: encode a message with Text to Binary, send the 0s and 1s to a friend, and let them decode it here. It is a simple, practical way to explore how computers represent language.

FAQs

What format does the binary need to be in?

Groups of 8 bits made only of 0 and 1. Spaces, tabs, and line breaks between groups are ignored, so you can paste directly from our Text to Binary tool. Binary copied from documents or PDFs where line breaks split the groups works too — all whitespace is stripped before validation, so formatting quirks never cause false errors.

Why does it say my binary is invalid?

Two common causes: a character that is not 0 or 1 (even a stray letter), or a total length that is not a multiple of 8 — every byte needs all 8 bits.

Can it decode emojis?

Yes. Emojis are stored as four UTF-8 bytes (32 bits), and the decoder reassembles them correctly as long as all the bits are present and valid.
