Text to Speech

Sometimes it is easier to listen than to read — reviewing your own writing for typos, checking how a paragraph flows, or simply consuming content hands-free. Our free Text to Speech tool turns anything you type or paste into natural-sounding spoken audio right in your browser. There is no signup, no file upload, and no cost; the speech is generated on your device using the voices built into your operating system.

You get full control over the playback: pick any available voice from the dropdown, adjust the speaking rate from half speed up to double speed, and fine-tune the pitch to taste. A live character counter keeps track of how much text you have entered. The tool supports whatever languages your device’s voices support, so multilingual text works too.

Writers, students, language learners and accessibility-minded site owners will find it especially handy — it is a quick way to proofread copy aloud or make written content available to people who prefer listening. Everything runs locally, so your text never leaves your machine.

FAQs

Why do the available voices look different on my phone and my computer?

Voices are provided by the browser and operating system, not by this website — so the list depends on the device you are using. Windows, macOS, Android and iOS each ship different built-in voices, and some browsers offer extra cloud voices.

Is my text uploaded or stored anywhere?

No. Speech synthesis happens locally on your device through the Web Speech API. Your text is never sent to any server and never stored.

Can I download the audio as an MP3?

Not with this tool — browser speech synthesis only plays audio through your speakers and does not expose the audio data for download. It is designed for listening and proofreading, not audio production.
