Freelancers billing by the hour, shift workers checking their timesheets, and managers adding up team hours all face the same chore: turning start and end times into a total. Our free Hours Calculator does it in two ways. Add as many time-entry rows as you need — morning shift, evening shift, a second job — enter the start and end of each, and get the total hours plus a per-row breakdown. Night shifts that cross midnight are handled automatically.
Below that sits a second tool: the duration calculator. Enter two durations in hours and minutes, choose add or subtract, and get the result instantly — perfect for questions like “3h 45m plus 2h 20m” or “8h minus a 1h 30m lunch”. Everything runs in your browser with no signup, so your work schedule stays private.
Pair it with a spreadsheet or your invoicing app: calculate the total here, copy the number, and paste it where it needs to go. No accounts, no tracking, no watermarks — just the hours.

FAQs
My shift runs past midnight — will it work?
Yes. If the end time is earlier than the start time, the row is treated as an overnight shift and 24 hours are added automatically.
Can the duration calculator give negative results?
Yes — subtracting a larger duration from a smaller one shows a minus sign, e.g. -1h 15m, so you can see the deficit clearly at a glance.
Is there a limit to how many rows I can add?
No fixed limit. Add a row per shift, per day, or per project — the calculator adds them all into one total. For a weekly timesheet, one row per day is typical, and every minute rolls into the final figure.
