If you share PDFs with clients, students or the public, a watermark marks them as yours — discouraging casual copying and making leaks traceable. Our free Watermark PDF tool stamps your text across every page of a PDF right in your browser: pick a centered single mark or a tiled diagonal pattern, dial the opacity from subtle to bold, and size it from 24 to 96 points. The document never uploads anywhere, so confidential files stay private. No signup.
The watermark is rendered in a clean bold typeface at a 45-degree angle, sitting over the page content at your chosen opacity — readable enough to deter, light enough not to obscure. Encrypted PDFs are attempted with the password prompt bypassed, and you get a clear message if a file cannot be opened instead of a silent failure. Processing is quick, and the watermarked file downloads immediately with “-watermarked” added to its name.
Ideal for draft contracts, course materials, portfolios and review copies. If you need to assemble documents before watermarking, try the Merge PDF tool first.

FAQs
Centered or tiled — which position should I choose?
Centered places one diagonal mark per page, best for drafts and review copies. Tiled repeats the text in a grid across the whole page, which is harder to crop out — better for documents you want strongly protected.
Will the watermark cover my document’s text?
It sits over the content but at your chosen opacity (10–80%). At the default 40% the text underneath stays readable; raise it toward 80% for maximum deterrence.
Can it watermark encrypted PDFs?
It attempts to open encrypted files with the password prompt bypassed. If the encryption resists, you get a clear message — in that case, save an unencrypted copy from your PDF reader first and try again.
