Text to Binary

Computers do not think in letters — they think in bits. Every character you type is stored as a sequence of 0s and 1s, and our free Text to Binary converter shows you exactly what that looks like. Type or paste any text and get its binary representation as neat 8-bit groups. Because the encoder is UTF-8 aware, it handles far more than plain English: Urdu, Arabic, Chinese, emojis — every character is converted from its real byte values.

Students use it to understand how encoding works, developers use it to inspect data at the byte level, and hobbyists use it for puzzles and ciphers. It is free, needs no signup, and runs entirely in your browser, so your text never leaves your device. Copy the binary to your clipboard or download it as a .txt file with one click.

Binary is also the language of secret messages: encode your text, share the 0s and 1s, and let a friend decode them with our Binary to Text tool.

FAQs

Does it work with emojis and non-English text?

Yes. The converter uses UTF-8, so each character is encoded from its actual byte values — an emoji becomes four 8-bit groups and an Urdu letter becomes two.

Why are there spaces between the binary groups?

Each group is one byte (8 bits). Spaces make the output readable, and our Binary to Text tool accepts the spaced format when you want to decode it back. The tool also reports the exact byte count, so you can see precisely how much storage a message needs — handy for learning why an emoji takes four bytes while the letter A takes one.

Can I convert binary back into text?

Yes — paste the binary into our free Binary to Text tool and it will decode it, including multi-byte characters, right back into readable text.
